About Us

Securing the future of Scottish piping and drumming in the Northwest

Who Are We

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization. We are always looking for more volunteers!

Our Mission

The Washington Pipers Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Scottish bagpipe and drum music in the Puget Sound region.

What We Do

We organize and run piping and drumming competitions in the Seattle area, and provide piping and drumming scholarship opportunities

Our History

The Washington Pipers Association provided many years of vibrant local piping competitions in the Seattle area until the organization became inactive in 2015.

In late 2018, three local pipe band leaders–Larry Koch (Keith Highlanders Pipe Band), James Naismith (Clan Gordon Pipe Band), and Kevin Auld (Northwest Junior Pipe Band) met and decided to reactivate the organization. After restablishing the organization with several government agencies, getting a bank account set up, and establishing email and web site, we are now recognized as 501(c)(3) and looking to organize competitions for 2024-2025 season.

We are always looking for volunteers so please contact us if you are interested in helping out!
